She thought the gap would end her plan
When Ritu finally held her passport with the Hungarian permit inside, she didn't call it a plan that worked. She called it a surprise.
“This whole journey was an unexpected journey for me. This visa is also an unexpected happiness.”
Asked if she had expected the visa, she answered without hesitating: “Not at all, since I had a study gap.”
Most students worry about one weak point in their file. Ritu's weak point was four years long, and behind it were three problems that could each have stopped her application.
Where did Ritu's Hungary plan begin?
Ritu's plan began online. After finishing HSC in 2022 she still wanted to study abroad, but years passed. In her words, “My study gap had also become long.”
In early 2026 she started watching visa-success videos from students who had gone abroad. She contacted Sunrise Study Abroad online first, and the team then invited her to the Banani office to plan in person. “They were very humble,” she says. “They guided me on everything from A to Z.”
Why did she choose Budapest Metropolitan University?
Ritu chose Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) because Hungary sits at the centre of Europe and the university has a strong reputation. “First of all, it's a Central European country. There are many opportunities there,” she explains.
Her subject came from her background. Ritu studied business at HSC, so the Sunrise Study Abroad team suggested business programmes, and she picked International Business Economics.
At METU this is an English-taught bachelor's of 8 semesters and 240 ECTS. It covers international trade and finance, EU integration and policy, globalisation, logistics, marketing and negotiation, and prepares graduates for domestic and international business and for economic and civil diplomacy.
