How Habib won a 100% EDISU Piemonte scholarship and an Italy student visa straight after HSC

Md. Haibur Rahman Habib from Sirajganj won a 100% EDISU Piemonte regional scholarship for a Bachelor's in Management for Sustainability at the University of Eastern Piedmont, Italy, less than a year after finishing HSC. His Italy student visa was issued on 8 October 2026, the same afternoon as his face-to-face interview at the Embassy of Italy.

The afternoon the portal changed

On 8 October 2026, Habib sat across from an Italian visa officer for about seven to ten minutes. It was his first embassy interview. He had never filed a visa application before either. A year earlier, he had been a student waiting for his HSC results.

By that afternoon, his visa portal showed a new status: issued. An email confirmation followed. The next day, he collected his passport from VFS Chattogram, stamped for Italy.

Most students wait weeks for that moment. Habib waited hours. But the speed of that final day hides almost a year of careful work, and three problems that could each have ended his plan.

Where did Habib's Italy plan begin?

Habib's plan began the moment he finished HSC in 2025. He already knew what he wanted: a bachelor's degree in a well-developed country. He researched online for weeks, and every search pointed him back to Italy, with its strong public universities, low tuition and real scholarship routes for Bangladeshi students.

He also knew where his research ran out.

“To fulfill this dream, I definitely needed a helping hand.”

Why did Habib choose Sunrise Study Abroad?

Habib chose Sunrise Study Abroad after comparing several consultancies, both online and in person. He also spoke with students who had received Italy visas through Sunrise in earlier years. They told him the team was student-friendly and prepared every document authentically, which he saw as essential for a visa.

At the end of December 2025, he opened his file at the Sunrise Study Abroad office in Banani with counsellor Mousumi Mou.

Why did he choose the University of Eastern Piedmont?

Habib chose the University of Eastern Piedmont because its programme matched both his profile and his interests. Together with Sunrise Study Abroad, he shortlisted a few Italian public universities and applied in early 2026.

His final choice was the Bachelor's in Management for Sustainability. The University of Eastern Piedmont describes this degree as a programme that pairs core management skills with the tools to build sustainability into how organisations make decisions. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles such as junior ESG analyst, sustainability reporting assistant and junior ESG consultant.

The university is in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, between Turin and Milan, which made Habib eligible to apply for the region's EDISU Piemonte scholarship. See the University of Eastern Piedmont's fees and requirements.

The hard part

What made Habib's case difficult?

Habib's case was difficult because he faced three challenges at the same time, not one. Any one of these is where many first-time applicants lose months. Habib had to clear all three.

  1. Going abroad straight after HSC

He was a fresh school graduate applying alone for a European bachelor's degree, with no university experience to lean on.

  2. Sponsor and bank documents to embassy standard

Italian visa files require financial and sponsor papers prepared exactly to the embassy's requirements, and he had never prepared them before.

  3. First VFS visit, first embassy interview

When the interview call came, he admits he was very nervous.

How did Sunrise Study Abroad solve each challenge?

Sunrise Study Abroad solved each challenge with a specific step, in this order:

  1. Entrance test preparation

Habib's programme required the CEnT-S (CISIA English Test – Sciences), the unified English test that CISIA introduced from November 2025 to replace the earlier English TOLC tests. Sunrise Study Abroad prepared him for it.

  2. EDISU Piemonte scholarship application

EDISU Piemonte is the regional agency for the right to university study in Piedmont, and its scholarships are need-based, judged on family financial documents. Sunrise Study Abroad showed Habib how to prepare and submit his documents. The result was a 100% EDISU Piemonte scholarship.

  3. Admission paperwork

Sunrise Study Abroad secured his pre-enrollment around spring 2026, then completed his CIMEA verification of his Bangladeshi qualifications.

  4. Financial documents

“I received all the guidelines regarding my documents and what was required,” Habib says. His sponsor and bank papers were organised exactly to the Sunrise Study Abroad checklist.

  5. VFS submission

His embassy appointment was allocated to VFS Chattogram, where he submitted his file in early September 2026.

  6. Interview preparation

Exactly one month later, his interview call came. When he brought the news to the Banani office, the team gave him confidence and walked him through how the interview was likely to go.

Looking back, Habib says the journey had many anxious moments, and that the mental support, document assistance and guidance he received made the difference.

“The biggest contribution behind getting this visa goes to Sunrise Study Abroad.”

What did the Italy embassy ask Habib in his visa interview?

The Embassy of Italy asked Habib basic questions about his study plan and sponsor. According to Habib, the officer asked:

  • Which university he chose
  • What his subject is
  • Where his university is located
  • Who his sponsor is
  • What his sponsor does
  • What he wants to do in the future after this degree

The interview was face-to-face, lasted about seven to ten minutes and was conducted by an Italian female officer. Habib describes her as extremely polite, gentle and friendly.
